Co-founded by Felix Pole and Simon Purkiss, the CNM investment team possesses many years of experience covering all key aspects of mining project development. The Board have successfully worked together in various developments over the past 15 years and bring a wealth of experience to the direction of the investments.
Simon Purkiss, Chief Executive Officer
Simon Purkiss is a metallurgical engineer with experience in the development of projects in South Africa, production in base metals and PGM’s and the development and sale of new metallurgical processes in the resource industry. He was a founder and Managing Director of European Nickel PLC, which developed to full bankable levels, the heap leaching of nickel laterites. Prior to his time with ENK, he worked in Russia and South Africa where he was Business Development manager for BHP Billiton and marketed the Billiton bacterial leaching processes.
Craig Bailey, Chief Operating Officer
Craig Bailey joined CNM in June 2013. He is a project delivery, business development and operations executive and his experience includes grassroots and brownfield project development, project feasibility, process plant design, business development and project financing. He has worked on projects on five different continents and has an extensive background of working in developing countries. His experience covers a range of commodities including copper, cobalt, nickel, lead, zinc, gold, silver, PGM’s, uranium and rare earths. He has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch and is a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Colin Hunter, Technical Advisor
Dr Colin Hunter is a metallurgist who has specialised in flotation of sulphides and bacterial leaching of sulphides and precious metals. He assisted Titan Resources in the successful restart of the Radio Hill nickel sulphide mine and pioneered the nickel sulphide bacterial heap leaching process. He was involved in the spin off of the bacterial leaching and was Business Development manager for the company.
Kevin McGuinness, Company Secretary
Employed by Thrings LLP where he is Partner, Kevin specialises in mainstream corporate finance, M&A, flotations and fundraisings. He has wide experience in public company transactions, with particular experience of the London Stock Exchange’s AIM Market and regularly advises companies and NOMAD’s on admissions, secondary issues and compliance.
Brad Mills, Non-executive Director
Brad Mills joined the board of CNM in December 2014 and brings with him over 30 years experience in the resource industry. He currently holds a directorship with Norilsk Nickel, the world’s largest nickel producer and is a founder and managing director of Plinian Capital. He formerly held the position of CEO at Lonmin plc, the world’s number three platinum and PGM producer, and prior to that, served as president of BHP Billiton’s copper group.
Anton Mauve, Non-executive Director
Anton Mauve joined CNM’s board in December 2014. He is the Managing Director of West African Minerals Corporation, overseeing the development of the Company’s iron ore assets in Cameroon and Sierra Leone. He has been a partner with Plinian Capital since 2010 and has over 18 years experience in the resource industry and previously held the position of Vice President Strategy and Long Term Planning with Lonmin plc. He holds an MBA, MSc in Science in Engineering, and BSc (hons) in Geology and is registered as a Professional Natural Scientist in South Africa. .
Cyril Le Tonquez, Non-executive Director
Cyril Le Tonquez also joined CNM’s board in December 2014. He is a co-founder of Generation Asset Management and is responsible for leading the business development of the direct private equity investments group. He is a director of Generation Mining Limited and CE Mining Limited and a co-founder of AIM listed West African Minerals. Cyril was previously in charge of the business development at Deltec Investments Advisers Limited and held the same position at Atlas Wealth Management.
