Non-Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer
Simon Purkiss is a metallurgical engineer with experience in the development of projects in South Africa, production in base metals and PGM’s and the development and sale of new metallurgical processes in the resource industry. He was a founder and Managing Director of European Nickel PLC, which developed to full bankable levels, the heap leaching of nickel laterites. Prior to his time with ENK, he worked in Russia and South Africa where he was Business Development manager for BHP Billiton and marketed the Billiton bacterial leaching processes.
Non-Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer
Craig Bailey has worked as Chief Operating Officer for CNM since June 2013 and joined the board in May 2018. He is a project delivery, business development and operations executive and his experience includes grassroots and brownfield project development, project feasibility, process plant design, business development and project financing. He has worked on projects on five different continents and has an extensive background of working in developing countries. His experience covers a range of commodities including copper, cobalt, nickel, lead, zinc, gold, silver, PGM’s, uranium and rare earths. He has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch and is a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in the United Kingdom.
Felix Pole was a Director of Toledo Mining and was one of the Principals of European Nickel PLC with Simon Purkiss. European Nickel was a privately funded company for 4 years before listing on AIM in 2004 with a market cap of $50m which increased to $300m when he stepped down as Chairman. Prior to his role with European Nickel PLC, Felix was the Finance Director of Titan Resources, an Australian listed company that developed and operated the Radio Hill Mine in Western Australia and developed the bacterial heap leaching process for nickel and copper sulphides.
Dr. Colin Hunter
Dr Colin Hunter is a metallurgist who has specialised in flotation of sulphides and bacterial leaching of sulphides and precious metals. He assisted Titan Resources in the successful restart of the Radio Hill nickel sulphide mine and pioneered the nickel sulphide bacterial heap leaching process. He was involved in the spin off of the bacterial leaching and was Business Development manager for the company.
Employed by Thrings LLP where he is Partner, Kevin specialises in mainstream corporate finance, M&A, flotations and fundraisings. He has wide experience in public company transactions, with particular experience of the London Stock Exchange’s AIM Market and regularly advises companies and NOMAD’s on admissions, secondary issues and compliance.
Anton Mauve joined CNM’s board in December 2014. He is the Managing Director of West African Minerals Corporation, overseeing the development of the Company’s iron ore assets in Cameroon and Sierra Leone. He has been a partner with Plinian Capital since 2010 and has over 18 years experience in the resource industry and previously held the position of Vice President Strategy and Long Term Planning with Lonmin plc. He holds an MBA, MSc in Science in Engineering, and BSc (hons) in Geology and is registered as a Professional Natural Scientist in South Africa.
Brad Mills joined the board of CNM in December 2014 and brings with him over 30 years experience in the resource industry. He currently holds a directorship with Norilsk Nickel, the world’s largest nickel producer and is a founder and managing director of Plinian Capital. He formerly held the position of CEO at Lonmin plc, the world’s number three platinum and PGM producer, and prior to that, served as president of BHP Billiton’s copper group.
Cyril Le Tonquez
Cyril Le Tonquez also joined CNM’s board in December 2014. He is a co-founder of Generation Asset Management and is responsible for leading the business development of the direct private equity investments group. He is a director of Generation Mining Limited and CE Mining Limited and a co-founder of AIM listed West African Minerals. Cyril was previously in charge of the business development at Deltec Investments Advisers Limited and held the same position at Atlas Wealth Management.
Mr Chen Dong
Mr Chen Dong was welcomed onto CNM’s board in May 2018 and represents our new major shareholder. He graduated from Peking University and has been the director of Shenzhen Chengtun Group since 2008. He joined Chengtun Mining Group (Stock code: 600711) and was appointed Managing Director of the company from 1999 to 2011 following which he has been the Chairman of Chengtun Mining Group.
Mr Weng Jiabin
Mr Weng Jiabin was welcomed onto CNM’s board in May 2018 and represents our new major shareholder. A graduate of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University with a Bachelor of Law, he has worked for Xiamen Luqiao Building Materials Company from 2007 to 2010 and subsequently for China SCE Property Holdings Limited from 2011 to 2012. He joined Chengtun Mining Group in 2012 and has worked as Risk Management Director of Chengtun Mining Group since then.
Ms. Ching Iu
CNM welcomed Ms. Ching Iu to the board in May 2018. Ms Iu represents one of CNM’s major new shareholders. Ms. Ching Iu graduated from Cass Business School (City University of London) with a Bachelor of Science with honors in actuarial science in June 2014 and a Master of Science in investment management in January 2016 respectively. CNM welcome her expertise and knowledge to the board.
