Chief Executive Officer
Has over 25 years’ experience in the mining industry. Prior to co-founding CNM, Simon was a founder and Managing Director of European Nickel PLC, which developed a heap leaching technology for nickel laterites to full bankable feasibility study levels. Simon’s background includes technical, operational and corporate development roles with BHP Billiton, Billiton, Impala Platinum and junior mining companies in South Africa, the FSU and Australia. He is a Professional Engineer and holds a BSc (Hons) Minerals Engineering from Birmingham University.
Chief Operating Officer
Has over 20 years’ experience in the mining industry. Prior to joining CNM in 2013, Craig worked on a number of projects across five continents covering a range of commodities including base metals, precious metals, PGMs, uranium and rare earths. His experience includes greenfield and brownfield project development, project feasibility, process plant design, business development, project financing as well as operational management. He has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch and is a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in the United Kingdom.
Dr Colin Hunter
Is a metallurgist who specialises in flotation of sulphides and bacterial leaching of sulphides and precious metals. He assisted Titan Resources in the successful restart of the Radio Hill nickel sulphide mine and pioneered the nickel sulphide bacterial heap leaching process.
Is an experienced mining executive and co-founder of CNM. During his career, he has held a number of Board and senior management positions, including Director of Toledo Mining PLC, Chairman of European Nickel PLC, and Finance Director of Titan Resources, an Australian-listed company that developed and operated the Radio Hill Mine in Western Australia and developed the bacterial heap leaching process for nickel and copper sulphides.
Joined CNM’s board in December 2014. He is the Managing Director of West African Minerals Corporation, overseeing the development of the Company’s iron ore assets in Cameroon and Sierra Leone. He has been a partner with Plinian Capital since 2010 and has over 18 years experience in the resource industry and previously held the position of Vice President Strategy and Long Term Planning with Lonmin plc. He holds an MBA, MSc in Science in Engineering, and BSc (hons) in Geology and is registered as a Professional Natural Scientist in South Africa.
Joined CNM’s board in December 2014 and brings with him over 30 years of experience in the resource industry. He currently holds a directorship with Norilsk Nickel, the world’s largest nickel producer and is a founder and managing director of Plinian Capital. He was formerly CEO of Lonmin plc, the world’s number three platinum and PGM producer, and prior to that, served as president of BHP Billiton’s copper group.
Cyril Le Tonqueze
Joined CNM’s board in December 2014. He is a co-founder of Generation Asset Management and is responsible for leading the business development of the direct private equity investments group. He is a director of Generation Mining Limited and CE Mining Limited and a co-founder of AIM listed West African Minerals. Cyril was previously in charge of the business development at Deltec Investments Advisers Limited and held the same position at Atlas Wealth Management.
Mr Dong Chen
Joined CNM’s board in May 2018 and represents Chengtun Mining, a CNM shareholder. He graduated from Peking University and has been the director of Shenzhen Chengtun Group since 2008. He joined Chengtun Mining Group (Stock code: 600711) and was appointed Managing Director of the company from 1999 to 2011, following which he has been the Chairman of Chengtun Mining Group.
Mr Jiabin Weng
Joined CNM’s board in May 2018 and represents Chengtun Mining, a CNM shareholder. A graduate of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University with a Bachelor of Law, he has worked for Xiamen Luqiao Building Materials Company from 2007 to 2010 and subsequently for China SCE Property Holdings Limited from 2011 to 2012. He joined Chengtun Mining Group in 2012 as Risk Management Director of Chengtun Mining Group.
Ms. Ching Iu
Joined CNM’s board in May 2018 and represents Chengtun Mining, a CNM shareholder. Ms. Iu graduated from Cass Business School (City University of London) with a Bachelor of Science with honors in actuarial science in June 2014 and a Master of Science in investment management in January 2016 respectively.
